Darío Tagarro

Darío Tagarro is a first-year PhD student in Statistics and Operations Research at the University of Oviedo (Spain), supervised by Enrique Miranda and Raúl Pérez-Fernández. he holds a BsC in Mathematics (2024), where he was distinguished with the award for the best academic record. Additionally, he holds an MsC in Teacher Training (2025), both from the University of Oviedo and he is currently taking postgraduate studies in Data Analysis for Business Intelligence at the University of Oviedo.

Since 2025, he has been working as a full-time substitute lecturer in the Department of Statistics, Operations Research and Mathematics Education at the University of Oviedo, with experience teaching Statistics across several undergraduate programs, including Commerce and Marketing and various Engineering degrees, and postgraduate programs such as Civil Engineering Master.

He is a PhD candidate in the early stages of his doctoral research. At this point, he is in the process of building the foundation of his academic and scientific training, exploring the key theoretical and methodological tools that will support his future research. As part of this formative stage, he is actively participating in specialized schools and training programs, such as the BFTA School 2025 held in Granada, Spain.

His research focuses on studying random sets and second order models on the simplex. More specifically, the objectives of his research include:

1. To present statistical real-life applications of random sets on the simplex on the context of compositional data.
2. To study comparative probabilities models and their structure on the simplex.
3. To study second order probability models.
